Fashion | Brit Awards 2015: Best Of British

Brit Awards

We have been absolutely spoilt with events and ceremonies lately, I couldn’t let the British side down by skipping past the music event of the year, The Brit Awards! The event was televised live on 25th February and I live tweeted the whole event, here’s just some of the highlights:

As much as this event is about celebrating music, I equally enjoy reviewing the attires of celebrities as they hit the red carpet runway. On this occasion, there were many looks that I didn’t approve of, surprisingly I’m not a fan of the new leg veil “trend”, it doesn’t seem to flatter anyone!

I have chosen 3 style choices that highlight the Best of British:

You will notice that there is a theme for all of my style picks – shades of red paired with black – this was completely accidental but it shows that it must have been working for me (or them)!

Paloma Faith is up first, showcasing serious style in this embellished, strapless dress with a dramatic netted full skirt. She typically opts for an evocatively nostalgic number and I think this Armani couture dress suits her perfectly.

On the flip side, supermodel Cara Delevingne looked so cool in her simple and slightly boyish Saint Laurent, 70’s rock ‘n’ roll inspired outfit teamed with a stylish fedora, still managing to ooze femininity.

My final awards goes to… *drumroll*… Jessie Ware! She wears a plunging, colour-block Miu Miu gown – this has to be the epitome of retro glamour, which you will know by now I’m a fan of; so chic!

However, one of the absolute standouts of the night came from international superstar, Taylor Swift.

I’m used to Taylor Swift being on point with her outfits but this time she really mixed it up with a sophisticated red and black floor-sweeper by Robeto Cavalli. The real stunner was the sheer back with detailed lace dragon embroidery, simply one of a kind! I also loved her elegant faux cropped updo, it certainly made me do a double take!

Did you watch the Brit Awards? What were your highlights? If you had to choose one of these outfits to wear, which one would you choose?
