Maybelline NY Dream Satin Liquid Foundation (004 Light Porcelain)
Air-whipped liquid provides perfecting coverage for 100% poreless skin.
Full yet lightweight coverage, ideal for normal skin.
Satin perfect, luminous finish.
Oil-free, fragrance-free, tested under dermatological control.
I’ve tried countless liquid foundations from various brands over the years, but I haven’t had much luck with them. In between returning to a ‘safer’ option (with mixed results), I’ve persevered with liquid foundations, mainly because of other people wearing, talking and/or blogging about them.
And finally – for the first time ever – I’ve discovered a liquid foundation that works for me, and that’s enough to make it a ‘star product’ alone.
Maybelline’s Dream Satin Liquid Foundation in ‘Light Porcelain’ (004) is an ideal shade for my (very) pale skin, though it appears darker in the glass bottle; in natural light, this is a fairly pale foundation, without a trace of orange.
I use around 2-3 small pumps of foundation for the entire face, which is just the right amount considering that the foundation has a smooth and creamy consistency that blends effortlessly into the skin.
Once applied, the foundation provides a very natural light coverage, which is perfect for summer. Alternatively, the product can be built up, without feeling heavy and/or cakey in texture — In fact; it feels extra lightweight on the skin, making it suitable for daily use.
As you can see from the photos (above), the foundation evens out the skin and conceals any skin imperfections or blemishes. The product offers a dewy finish for dry skin, but may require a touch of powder for combination-oily skin.
Overall, Maybelline’s Dream Satin Liquid Foundation is fantastic, certainly in terms of the price (£6 on offer) and the finished look. It is my current go-to foundation for everyday wear, and I will 100% repurchase.
What is your star product of the month?
This sounds wonderful, though it would take a lot to make me stray from my beloved Rimmel! 😛 Your skin looks absolutely flawless in the after photo!

Thanks so much! Remind me, which Rimmel foundation do you use? I tried the ‘Wake Me Up’ foundation before, but I had difficulties finding a suitable shade. x

I use Match Perfection in the lightest shade – 010 Light Porcelain. They’ve recently changed the formula, I used to use 081 Fair Ivory.

Ooh fab, thank you. Since you’re fair-skinned like me, I’ll swatch that foundation next time I’m in the drugstore.

And are you finding it good on your skin? I’m afraid of drug store brands, I end up breaking out, or worse. My skin’s too sensitive.

I’ve been using it for quite a while and I’ve experienced no skin issues, no breakouts and skin seems well hydrated, I definitely suffered with more dry skin when using the mousse version of this product. I know that a lot of brands make claims, but Maybelline seem to be correct in this case – it doesn’t clog pores, suitable for sensitive skin and oil-free, fragrance-free, tested under dermatological control. Then again, everyone is different! What foundation do you typically use? 🙂

I should try this for a foundation because I don’t have a good one. It covers your skin so nicely!

It is so difficult to find a good foundation and everyone is different, so it takes a lot of trial and error, but I’m glad that I’ve found this for now. Let me know if you do have the opportunity to try it! x

My go-to foundation is Covergirl Skin Match, shade n3. I had it on at an event and my friend Carly was standing next to me and said that my skin looked flawless. How are you?

Ooh, I haven’t spotted the Covergirl brand here in the UK, but it sounds like one to look out for on my next trip to the US! I’m steadily crossing through the days of June, how are you?

I’m pretty good. Weather is nice, I went strawberry picking today, getting some reading done, my shoulder kind of hurts, too much random information…

Haha, random is good – plus, it all sounds positive aside from the shoulder, what did you do?

No clue, it’s been hurting off and on. I made a pitcher of sangria with the fresh strawberries. Not quite ready yet, but you’re welcome to it.
