If you’re not one for crisp mornings, crunchy Autumn leaves beneath your feet and the nights drawing in sooner, then perhaps you can be persuaded into the new season by the fashion options that are now available to you.
Autumn is all about layering, which is a style that not only keeps you warm but also keeps you looking on-trend. It’s the season of deep wine colours and warm mustards, replicating the changes in nature. It’s also time to introduce textures, so dig out the snuggly sweaters, cosy coats and soft scarves!
Autumn isn’t a season to sink into blacks either, keep colours in your palette to add warmth to the cooler days (and inevitably paler skin tones) – this can also be implemented in your makeup, there is nothing that I love more than golden/bronze/smokey eyes matched with various shades of red on the lip.
What do you like most about fall fashion? Which is your favourite piece from my choices?
Big fan of that graphic, did you make it yourself?
I wrote a fashion piece for a magazine recently and it was basically the male equivalent of this – you clearly have good taste haha.

Thanks! I selected the pieces and created the graphic on Polyvore, I can literally lose hours at a time on there. Ooh which magazine did you write for? Is it available online? I’d love to see it!

What’s Polyvore? Sounds like a useful tool!
I’ve just had another look, it’s not as similar as I thought, haha! Close though with regards to the colours.
It is online http://edition.pagesuite-professional.co.uk//launch.aspx?eid=c20b2cb4-e7cd-4b66-ae08-75210ad6e362 (p12)

Polyvore is a community powered social commerce website, you can create image collages like the one above using their product index: http://www.polyvore.com
I love your article and fashion choices! Between us, we’ve created quite the fashionable fall pairing, if I do say so myself! 🙂

Adele, what a great outfit, especially the coat. Fall is my favorite season for dressing. I love burgundy, navy, forest greens, browns. Ok yes I still wear a lot of black but I do live in NY 😉

Good post as usual. I’ve to get some new clothes, too. A new suit for work. But for men this is mostly pretty easy. Trousers, shirt, jacket. Last year checked cravat were en vogue. Not sure what’s this years trend.

Aw, thanks Jonathan! I think that I should consider doing an Autumn Essentials for men too, watch this space… 🙂

cute outfit, even if I could never wear it. also: i abhor fall clothes and winter clothes, any cold weather clothes. i hate being too covered up. it makes me feel claustrophobic.

Eek! That’s a shame, it must be tricky to find outfits for the season. I think, living in the UK, I’ve gotten used to pretty cool weather year around, so I’ve embraced the really cold months – and most of my wardrobe consists of jumpers/sweaters!
