We all experience ‘tired’ eyes from time to time, especially if we’re glued to an electronic device’s screen for the best part of our days. As a Girl in Glasses, I find that my eyes can become tired, sore and puffy quite often because there’s a bit of extra focus required that causes additional strain.
I wanted to find a product that would specifically treat my eyes, rather than using a multi-purpose cleanser, so I thought that I would try AA Skincare’s Seaweed & Aloe Refreshing Eye Gel*. Amphora Aromatics have years of experience in aromatherapy and natural skincare, combining essential oils with classic natural ingredients to create a range of affordable products.
The product arrives in beautiful, organic-looking packaging with the AA Skincare logo embossed on the top. This already feels like a top-end, high quality product before you’ve even opened it. The bottle comes with a pump to release the gel in perfect amounts, so that you don’t use too much in one sitting. It’s also light and small (50ml), which makes it perfect to pop in your handbag or to travel with, this will definitely be in my suitcase the next time that I take a trip away.
The Seaweed & Aloe Eye Gel claims to have three main properties:
- To gently and safely remove make-up
- To restore delicate skin around the eyes
- To soothe and cool skin after a spell in the sun
If you, like me, have sensitive skin then you will be pleased to read of the natural ingredients that it contains too, some of the extracts in this particular product include eyebright and cornflower (soothing), as well as aloe vera (anti-flammatory) and cucumber (hydrating and calming), amongst many others.
The gel itself is a transparent light green with a thin, smooth consistency and a gentle scent of seaweed, giving the sense of freshness. During application it felt quite light and slightly tingled on my face, which gave me the reassurance that it was working it’s magic! It absorbs in an instant and firms your skin slightly at first, which immediately made my skin feel refreshed and alive.
I think that the eye gel is dual purpose; it’s suitable in the mornings as a “wake-me-up” because of the tingling sensation and the gentle scents but it also works brilliantly as a make-up remover in the evenings, with just one pump and a couple of wipes with a cotton pad, all of my eye make-up was removed with no residue. The calming and soothing elements are also quite relaxing towards that end of the day.
Another huge tick against this product is the price, it’s hard to believe that such a good quality product is available for just £6.96, Amphora Aromatics has a new fan in me and I can’t wait to explore more of the skincare range, since this might already have taken my “Star Product of the Month” position!

I’ll keep a look out for this or an alternative and let you know. I do need to start writing reviews about the products that I don’t rate highly (there’s plenty of those too) but I much prefer sharing favourites, so that others can benefit too! 😀
