Motivational Monday | Life Lessons From Peter Pan

banner (1) Peter Pan, written by J.M. Barrie, has always been one of my all-time favourite stories. In the years following its publication, the tale was adapted for the big screen on more than one occasion, but perhaps most notably by Walt Disney in 1953. Children were drawn into the make believe land by stunning scenery, mesmerising mermaids and fantastical fairies, swashbuckling sword fights and breath-taking flying sequences, however as the children grew older and revisited the classic story, it became apparent that there are countless lessons to be learned from Peter’s adventures.

Here are some particularly wonderful quotes to keep you motivated as you take the voyage into a brand new week:

Second star to the right and straight on till morning.

1PP

Never give up; sometimes your dreams might feel far out of reach but if you don’t let that stop you, then the result will be worth it.

All you need is faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust.

2PP

Having faith in yourself, trust in your dream and the dream itself will get you to where you want to be in life. You’re capable of achieving anything that your heart desires!

The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it.

3PP

At times we can be our own worst enemies by doubting ourselves and our abilities; believe that you can and eventually you will.

Keep adventuring and stay not a grown up.

4PP

There’s a beauty of innocence that comes from being a child, sometimes it’s important to not get dragged down in the responsibilities of reality as we grow older but rather, stay young in heart and spirit.

When there’s a smile in your heart, there’s no better time to start.

5PP

You will know when you’re ready; you will feel it from within. Always remember to do whatever makes you happy and you will know that you’re on the right track.

Dreams do come true, if only we wish hard enough. You will have everything in life…

6PP

It doesn’t matter how long it takes to achieve your dreams, just never stop dreaming. Positive thinking and determination are key ingredients!

To die would be an awfully big adventure.

7PP

Remember that life is an adventure and death is part of the unknown; so think of it as part of the journey, rather than something to fear.

Peter Pan taught us that our dreams and affirmations are the very tools that we need to soar and take flight, meaning that even the impossible becomes possible. As a child we dream of being anything we want to be, the possibilities are endless because our belief has not been tainted by the world around us. Peter Pan isn’t telling us that he didn’t want to grow older in age but that we shouldn’t allow logic to crush your dreams. Always stay faithful.

Fun fact, the origins of my blog before I started to actually use it on a regular basis was based on ‘second star to the right and straight on til morning’ and I have had another blog based on ‘faith, trust and pixie dust’ because so many quotes from it have resonated with me over the years. My best friend is also a HUGE fan of it so it’s remained a pretty large part of my life even though I never really paid much attention to it when I was younger. I loved this post a whole bunch, it’s reminded me of quotes from it that I had forgotten! x

Oh wow, how interesting! I’ve enjoyed the story of Peter Pan more and more as I’ve grown older. I recently watched “Finding Neverland” (2004), which is about the author J.M. Barrie, and helped to inspire this post. I’m not sure if you’ve seen it but it’s well worth a watch!

I have seen it, but it was years ago and I can’t really remember it, but it’s one of those films that I need to rewatch imminently!
