The Blog Tour Award

The Blog Tour

I was nominated to take part in the Blog Tour Award last week, so I must start by saying a huge thank you to Karen, the blogger behind Shade But No Shade, she engages readers by sharing her thoughts on a wide range of topics, there really is something for everyone!

The award rules:

  1. Pass the tour on to at least four other bloggers.
  2. Give your nominees the rules and specify the Monday in which they should post their nomination answers.
  3. Answer the four questions about your creative processes, which allows other bloggers and visitors to understand what inspires you to do what you do.
  4. Compose this one-time post on a specific Monday (date TBC by your nominator).

My answers:

1. How does your work differ from others in your genre?Glasses (1)

I’m writing as The Girl in Glasses because it took a while for me to take the plunge to get glasses, despite desperately needing them at the time. Now I want to represent and connect with other bespectacled bloggers, I’m hoping that I can continue to inspire various beauty looks for this particular demographic, as well as those without!

My blog has various sections because I have a wide range of interests, including film, which is now going to be contained within a secondary blog: Screen through Specs

Finally, I’m a very visual person, so you will find that all of my blog posts have an assortment of images to compliment the text!

2. How does your writing/creative process work?

I keep a small clipboard on my desk, so that I can make a note of any ideas that come to mind, then I can consult that if I’m ever experiencing writers block, which thankfully doesn’t happen often!

I also write a lot of draft posts, which include the post title and one sentence about what I hope to achieve with it, meaning that I have a range of posts in reserve, so I can write about whichever topic I feel like in the moment. I typically take the photos or gather the images for a post first then build the content around that. I often have iTunes on shuffle and a hot mug-of-something to accompany my writing.

3. Why do you write or create what you do?typewriteranimation

I have always enjoyed writing from creating short stories and magazines on a typewriter (!) as a child to writing assignments on a range of topics throughout education and now my blog! As I have grown older and my responsibilities have increased, I’ve found that I’m at risk of becoming an indistinct blob of a person by being part of the routine machine. To avoid that, I’m ensuring that I keep active with my interests and writing is just one of those!

4. What are you working on at the moment?

I’m working on this blog, as well as finally launching my secondary blog, even though the posts might be a little bit sporadic for the time being, I’m ready to get started. I have an idea for a novel that I would like to write, so I need to now think about scheduling regular writing time for that.

My nominees:

Check out these awesome (and super deserving) blogs:

  1. JILLYPOPMUSIC
  2. Moxie Luster
  3. Chanelle Hayley
  4. That Traveling Nurse
  5. Keep Going
  6. Lor @ Lovely & Cozy
  7. Dropping the Brick
  8. That’s So Jacob

I won’t be offended if you choose not to take part, simply don’t post! ☺

However, if you accept the award, then please share your Blog Tour Award post on: Mon 8th June

Don’t forget to leave a link to your response in the comments below!  ♥

Yay! Love your answers! We have a lot in common. 🙂 For example:

” I typically take the photos or gather the images for a post first then build the content around that. I often have iTunes on shuffle and a hot mug-of-something to accompany my writing.”

The only thing slightly different is that I write first and add pics after that relate to what I write but the rest is so me! 😀 I also have calendar reminders all over the place in my phone as reminders for new blog ideas I get on the train as well as sticky notes. haha Also as usual, I love your visuals! Too adorable! 🙂 ❤ Good luck on your novel as well.

I am just now catching up with all the wonderful posts I’ve missed while I was at work for two days… Congrats on the award and THANK YOU (again) for the nomination! I’m glad I didn’t miss the date to post. This still buys me enough time to write it as tonight I don’t think I am in the mood to come up with anything. Just one of those nights… 🙂

Of course, no rush! I was actually quite pleased that this award had a date along with it though, as I’m quite guilty of neglecting award posts because I always have so many other things to write about! I enjoyed the questions for this one, hope you do too, looking forward to reading 🙂
