Lets jump straight in with reviewing some of the fashion choices that our celebrities donned on the red carpet for Day 4 at the Cannes Film Festival! As always, I have chosen just a few of my highlights along with my opinions, though I love to read yours too!
Sonam Kapoor
Sonam looked regal, stepping out onto the red carpet in this royal blue Ralph Lauren gown with its ruche detailing, dramatic train and a fit that really flattered her figure.
I really liked how she completed the look with some dainty Chopard earrings, a coral lip and beautiful cascading curls. Less is definitely more with a dress like that, Cannestastic!
Li Bingbing
I absolutely loved Li’s enchanting gown from Zuhair Murad’s Spring Couture Collection – everything from the intricate embellishments and embroidery, the sweeping half-ballgown skirt and train, which created the perfect silhouette and the softness of the baby blue shade and sheer fabric.
I can only imagine how much more fabulous this will have looked glistening in the sunshine, she looks like she has leapt right off the pages of a fairytale!
Jane Fonda
I know that age should not really be a consideration but when we reflect back on Day 1 at the Cannes Film Festival and 30 year old Doutzen Kroes’ fashion entry, who was pictured wearing a very similar dress to the one here, you have to admire how fabulous Jane Fonda looks at 77!
She looked stunning in this electric blue, form-fitting Atelier Versace gown with illusion nude cutouts, it was even more daring than Doutzen’s! Wow.
Diane Kruger
Diane appeared ethereal in this fully embellised Prada halter neck gown, I love the unusual design on the front and the train that draped down her back in cape-like form. Is it just me that thinks she looks like a mermaid?
To top it all off, she added a pop of bright blue with her clutch and opted for romantic waves with relatively nude make-up, simply radiant!
Natalie Portman
Many people have praised Natalie’s choice of the floral print Christian Dior dress, which was showcased as part of his Spring Couture Collection.
Sure, she looks chic; I just don’t think that this look carries any degree of wow-factor. I really don’t like the shape of the dress with the plain, strapless top flowing down into the oversized, billowing skirt, it makes her appear disproportionate.
Naomi Watts
Naomi’s winning streak at the Cannes Film Festival started to waver on Day 4, when she returned to the red carpet in a muted palette of grey and black in this Armani Prive gown from the Spring collection.
I love the intricate detail of the bamboo motif but I was undecided about the backless gown with the tiered layers of the dress on the front. Is this trying to be 2 dresses in 1? What do you think?
